Juniper Petty Chef - Shuminagashi
Juniper Petty Chef
.
Enough sneak leaks ! Let’s get into this wonderful new piece I posted about the last few days
.
The petty chef might be the most underrated tool in most cutlery sets. Measuring in usually between 5-7” with a shorter profile than a full on chef, they’re light nimble tools that strike a balance that allows it to take on virtually any kitchen task
.
My version flirts with tradition, but in this one I wanted everything to stand out and elevate the piece. I discussed in the last post the significance of this timber, but I will let the pics speak for themselves.
Specs:
11” overall length
4.6 oz
5.5” flat ground blade (5” edge) in shuminagashi pattern San Mai steel with a vg10 core at 61hrc.
5.5” handle with heirloom fit copper/brass Mokume gane bolster and stabilized alligator juniper burl
A matching says with live edge secured and I preserved the live edge so the figure flows through the entire thing beautifully
